Akcja serialu rozgrywa się we współczesnym Palermo, które jest areną bezpardonowej walki pomiędzy kilkoma rodzinami mafijnymi o przywództwo nad całą organizacją Cosa Nostra. Wakat na tym stanowisku spowodowało aresztowanie dotychczasowego bossa – Bernardo Provenzano. Poszczególne wątki spina opowieść o trudnych relacjach dwóch kobiet.

Claudia Mares jest wysoko postawioną funkcjonariuszką policji. Właśnie dostała propozycję, aby dołączyć do specjalnego oddziału zajmującego się walką z mafią. Dowodzi nim doświadczony Stefano Lauria.

Rosy Abate jest córką jednej z najstarszych rodzin mafijnych. Po długim pobycie w Stanach Zjednoczonych wróciła do Palermo, aby wyjść z mąż.

Historia na dobre rozpoczyna się, gdy zostaje zamordowany Stefano Lauria. Oddział pozbawiony przywódcy musi wypracować nowe metody działania i zrozumieć, że we współczesnych czasach organizacje przestępcze wykorzystują do swoich celów zaawansowaną technikę.
